Exact due times are in Canvas. Late work accepted at 10% per day; assessed work not accepted late. Vocabulary quizzes are unannounced and cannot be made up.

Know these cold

  1. AP English Language and Composition teaches you to read, analyze, and produce nonfiction prose at a college level. The AP exam includes a multiple-choice reading section and three free-response essays.
  2. Mr. Gray's gradebook in Canvas is the official record of this course. This companion supports your preparation — it does not submit anything to Canvas on your behalf.
  3. Grading weights: Classwork 35%, Homework 25%, Assessments 40%. Most work is typed. Vocabulary quizzes are unannounced and cannot be made up.
  4. Bring this companion's vocabulary terms and exercise products to class — they are raw material for discussion, not substitutes for class participation.

Meerk's quiz — open the Week 0 gate

10 questions, no time limit. 85% on your first attempt in a 24-hour window opens the gate. Retakes inside the window are practice — they help you learn, they don't count. Work alone; the point is to know it, not to have seen it.

Dinner Table Question

Ask at home: What does it mean to read like a writer instead of reading like a student?

En español: ¿Qué significa leer como escritor en lugar de leer como estudiante?
